Renn Faire in record heat

So last week me and the kids were busy helping set up the Renn Faire in record 90+ degree temps. Lots of water was consumed and extreme measures for keeping cool were enacted.

This year I am helping out a merchant all 3 weekends and my 12 year old son is helping out by emptying the trash cans. He has been just awesome helping out. Usually as parents we wonder what kind of job we are doing, but every once in awhile our kids surprise and delight us. There are not many people who would walk around in 90+ degree weather hauling trash with a smile and a joke.

In between loads of dishes and laundry I did manage to acomplish level 26 on WOW. Even though there were issues with the patch and my add-ons. I trained and due to the patch I now have my travel form, I't so rocks.

Been way too destracted to post

Today I took a day away from the computer and caught up around the house. I did about half the weekly quota of laundry, vacuumed the living area, got caught up on the dishes and did real cooking. The weather was cool enough here to permit using an oven, so I did bread crumb coated chicken breasts with tater tots and peas.

On the WOW front, yesterday I hit level 20 and got my kitty form. I have to admit I like Prowl, being able to sneak my way out past the mobs after everything behind me respawns totally rocks.

Alien abduction? or uncharacterisitc overachievment day

Whoot! I have made level 18. I spent several hours last night playing and over 4 hours today. I am now apparently on my quest to get my aquatic form, however I seem to already have it. I went to a trainer in Silvermoon city for jewel crafting & on the way there I hit level 16. So I visited the druid trainer and it appears I snagged it when I trained for everything available.

It has been so hot here that I got woefully behind in my kitchen duties, so I spent 4+ hours catching up.
I washed dishes, made a mega batch of granola, boiled up some eggs and made a scratch batch of of potato salad, including homemade mayo. I was also feeling guilty for neglecting my family so I pulled out all the stops for dinner tonight. I grilled marinated steaks, mashed garlic parmesan spuds & nuked frozen peas.

This in direct contrast to the "it's way to hot to cook" canned chili on friday and the boxed mac & cheese with peas on saturday.

New and Improved Carrot

The past couple of days I have bribed myself with an hour of WOW for doing a load of dishes and cleaning off my food prep areas. I also awarded myself a bonus half hour for a dinner plan and basic prep. The basic prep today was large quantities of veggies sliced and marinating in teriyaki. So far this is working great.

Dinner tonight was fish Stir Fry with homemade teriyaki sauce over a bed of ramen noodles. I pretty much have my teriyaki recipe down. I do one part tamari soy sauce to one part sake with a couple tablespoon of sugar, a pinch of 5 spice and a dash of sesame oil. I made it a bit more fancy by serving with a pot of oolong tea.

Well, I made it to level 14 and my movements have become far less noobtastic. I was feeling fairly confidet of my playing till I had a bit of a conference with my hubby about the direction I need to take and he mentioned talent points. >sigh< it's always something. One thing has become clear about this game, it is challenging. There are so many levels and options to explore and hold my interest.

Dinner is Served

The cheapskate menu tonight was hamburgers, boiled red potatoes and a side salad. I made the buns myself with my bread maker and used a couple of pounds of the ground beef in my freezer. The salad was left over from dinner a couple of nights ago when it was too hot to cook so I did a chef salad.

The homemade buns were surprisingly easy. I was mostly concerned that what yeast I do have expired 2+ years ago, but I have been keeping it sealed in the fridge all this time. So I donned my Necromancer's hat, heated the milk the recipe called for & added a teaspoon of sugar, also from the recipe. Ten minutes later I was cackling and announcing "It's alive, It's alive!!" Sadly my proclamation was greeted by eye rolling, not thunder. I am vastly under appreciated.

Late Nights and Sleepovers

Last night my daughter had a Sleepover with her friend. It was giggle central with two 9 year old girls. As they were inevitably up late so was I.

I utilized this involuntary insomnia to complete my Bear form quest and made it to level 12. I am pretty sure I did ok. I only had to attempt it twice, I killed Lunaclaw the first time, but unfortunately died in the process.

I actually don't remember the exact point when I reached 12. When I made it back to Thunder Bluff and turned in my quest, I noticed that there were more spells available and I had made it to level 12.

On the Homefront

I've been uninspired to cook dinner for the masses lately. So, to help get me out of my funk I've decided to enter the All You Magazine grocery challenge. The challenge is to spend $25 a week or less per person for a month. Since this is normally about what I spend, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I'm planning on utilizing my pantry, what is left over from the quarter of a beef I got from my folks in my freezer, making some of my own bread and cooking multi-night meals. Cooking roast the first night and then stew the next and shepherd's pie on the last.
