New Beginnings

I will tender no apologies; I am a geek. I grew up reading science fiction, fantasy, comics and playing on a computer. I played role-playing games in high school and later dabbled a bit at larping. I attend Science-Fiction conventions and volunteer at the Renaissance Faire. I even listen to Filk music.

Having established my dorky pedigree, I am also a mother and wife. (yes there are girl geeks shhh) My hubby does webpage design. We met while I was playing Major Mud on my local BBS. I have a little girl who is 9 and a not so little boy who is 12. They both proudly identify themselves as geeks.

My hubby has been playing World of Warcraft for several years and 4 or 5 months ago my son started. My daughter soon had to join as well. I have been feeling a bit left out at the dining room table lately as they all chatter away about their character's latest acomplishments.

I have long resisted joining WOW. I remember way too many long nights spent playing online games trying to hit that next level. I am the mom, i'm responsible for dinner, laundry, lunches, vacuuming and there is no pause button on a child. But now I feel it is time for me to delve into the world my geeks have immersed themselves in.
